Seniors Rules 2025
- Handicapping
In league competitions only, a player’s handicap for the entire season is based on their Handicap Index as of 1st October.
The winner of each competition will have their handicap reduced by 1 shot. - Format of Play
All games at New Galloway will be played over 5 hol1es using the Stableford scoring format. - Handicapping for Other Competitions
For Away Days and the Roddy Hermon Cup, handicaps will be based on a player’s official Handicap Index at the time of the event. - League Scoring
The winner of each league competition receives 10 points, second place 9 points, and so on.
Places will be decided based on the best back 7, then 6, then 3, and finally the last hole Stableford scores. - League Winner
The winner of the Seniors’ League will be the player with the best six points totals across the season. - Preferred Lies
Preferred lies apply throughout the Seniors’ season on closely mown areas and cut rough. - Ground Under Repair (GUR)
Areas of damage caused by rabbits or badgers in the general area are treated as ground under repair.
Relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b, except where the damage only affects the player’s stance. - Embedded Stones or Rocks
Relief from embedded stones or rocks in the general area is allowed without penalty under Rule 16.1.
The ball may be dropped within one club length of the nearest point of complete relief, no nearer the hole. - Lost Ball / Out of Bounds Relief
When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, for two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping a ball on the adjacent fairway within two club lengths of the edge no nearer the hole - Par Adjustments
The par for the 1st hole will be 4.
The par for the 8th hole will be 5 for ladies.
The rules above supersede the previous rules.
